    OVER THE EDGE

    EUCREA FORUM 15./16.04.2016

    LEIPZIG

"It's kind of fun to do the impossible." Walt Disney

In cooperation with Leipzig University, EUCREA FORUM 2016 has invited artists with and without disabilities, workshop directors, exhibitors and anyone interested in the topic to participate in a shared quest and investigation.

Art in the times of inclusion offers opportunities. In fact more than “simply” taking part in the collective action of disabled and non-disabled artists. Art is a universal language that is at the disposal of everyone. New spaces appear when categories are dissolved - for human beings - and for art. More ideas, more artistic forms of expression and more individual self-images can emerge than previously possible in a society in which everyone's potential is appreciated.
At EUCREA, we define inclusion as a process that involves society as a whole. We need a new social climate to realise inclusion, and art can contribute to this "change of climate".

The goal of this EUCREA FORUM is to search for inclusive forms of art. Forms that remain available elucidate and can create something new and unprecedented. Inclusion in art does not mean that artists must submit themselves to predetermined images and stereotypes with the aim of creating a universal, exchangeable and exploitable art.

With "Über den Rand hinaus" (Over the edge), EUCREA wants to inspire two days of collective thought to search beyond what is already existent. And looking over the edge is therefore the leitmotif of our program. Unlike past EUCREA FORUMS existing structures will not be the starting point of the discussion. Instead we have invited personalities form the arts as sources of inspiration. Artists who have always used an "extended concept of art" and presented artistic concepts that are inclusive in a broad holistic sense without having ever made a specific issue of it. Was will materialize? We are excited about the results.

EUCREA will take the evening event to the city of Leipzig, which is currently being discovered by a young art scene.

We look forward to welcoming you in Leipzig!
    The EUCREA team including:

with Matt Mullican (artist, USA/Germany), representatives of the artistic legacy of Christoph Schlingensief, Luca Santiago Mora (artist, Atelier dell`Erore/Italy) among others.

The conference will be in German Language.
